Flags

A way to mark work-in-progress content for special review, so it stands out without reading as part of the design.

A flag marks an issue that needs to be resolved; something is not right/complete. The list below is generated on every load, so it is the one place to check before a launch.

Flags can be set on a container/block or on part of the content (inline). You can flag a whole block and a phrase inside that same block without the two interfering.

  • Block-level flag
    • Select the block, open the Settings sidebar and expand the Flag panel, then switch on Needs review.
      The block gets a dashed outline and a {ddm} badge. Available on most content blocks.
    • To remove: toggle it off
  • Inline/partial content flag
    • Select the relevant text and press the Flag button in the formatting toolbar (alongside Bold and Italic).
    • To remove: select the flagged text and reselect “Flag”.

How flags work

Both flags take an optional note. It shows as a tooltip when you hover the flagged content, and it appears in the list below.

Notes are internal. Write what needs doing and who for — “waiting on legal”, “client has not approved this price” — the way you would in a comment, not the way you would in copy.

Only logged-in users who can edit content. For everybody else the theme removes the flag markup before the page is sent, so a visitor sees no outline, no badge and no note — not even in the page source.

To read a page the way a visitor sees it, use the Flags button in the admin bar. It counts the flags on the page and switches the markers off, reading Flags hidden while they are off. The setting is remembered in your own browser and affects nobody else.
